In this video, I talk about a valuable lesson that we can learn from the Ant...and that is to prepare for our future hope in heaven.

Proverbs 6:6-8
Go to the ant, thou sluggard;
consider her ways, and be wise:
Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,
Provideth her meat in the summer,
and gathereth her food in the harvest.

These verses talk about how the ant is wise and prepares for the days ahead and I think that we can definitely apply that to our future goal. We need to take a good look at our life and ask ourselves, are we just going along aimlessly, or are we working hard, training ourselves and preparing to win the prize, which for us is heaven?

So the key word for today is “prepare,” and I was thinking about how this could definitely apply to a school lunch. If you don't prepare and fix your lunch before school or you don't prepare and bring lunch money, you're really going to be sorry around lunchtime. Yes, some of you might be able to scrounge around and beg your friends for food or cash, but your really taking a risk when you do that...and certainly you don't want to be starving all day! So, you definitely want to be prepared for lunchtime, right?!

Being prepared for our future after we die is something that we need to be working on now. We really can't afford the risk of putting it off hoping that we still have a long time to live and that we can worry about it later. We're not promised tomorrow. That's a risk I don't want to take and I doubt that you want to take it either!

Step 1 Confess that Jesus is Lord, believe that he died on the cross for your sins and that he rose from the dead. Then ask forgiveness for and turn away from your sins. I have a video about that HERE. After that, we need to be preparing for the prize, which is heaven and that takes effort and discipline on our parts.

Step 2 Be baptized. Jesus was baptized and he is our perfect example so we too should follow in his footsteps.

Step 3 is be in God's word. I often tell my kids that they need their Bible vitamins for the day because when your continually in God's word, then it's always on your mind and the Holy Spirit can help you apply it to your life. There are great Bible Apps out there but I really love having a physical Bible. You can underline areas where God's spoken to your heart or you can write notes in the margins. Anyhow, if you would like to have a Bible, please send me a quick email and I'll make sure that you get one for free.

Step 4 is to be praying continually. The Bible says that God is our shepherd and that we are his sheep. His sheep know his voice, so we need to be praying but also listening to what he wants to speak to our hearts.

So let's not be risk takers when it comes to our salvation, let's be prepared and learn from the ant!

Blessings!
